The Jesuit College and Church

The Church of the Jesuit College was built in 1629 from a  plan made by the architect, Bras Fernandes, who was also qualified sculptor. The baroque façade is decorated with sculpted figures of Saint Jesuits. The church, as well  as its annexed building which was the college, belonged to the Jesuits of the Company of Jesus.

The interior has striking wood carvings, many with grape vines as their motifs. In addition you will find valuable tiles and paintings from the 17th and 18th Centuries.
