A stellar performance!

An astonishingly successful show of pyrotechnics and colour helped set the next millenium into gear. The picture on the left can hardly capture the brilliant display of fire in the sky that was seen on the Funchal skies.

The weather was perfect. It was warm and a light breeze was hardly any interference with the careful planning of the pyrotechnicians. Many spectators took out to the sea on anything that floated, and those on solid ground to every possible corner found in the Funchal amphitheatre to watch, in awe, what would be recorded as the most expensive and most spectacular fireworks display in Madeira ever.

It was mentioned on some Portuguese television channel that Madeira's fireworks display was among the top five pyrotechnic shows the world over for the millenium celebrations. Many would not dispute that. But see it live for yourself on the video currently available on Madeira-Shopping.com to see wether this claim should be warranted or not.
