Hotel recommendation?

Can anyone help with this enquiry I received through madeira4u website please?

"Can you maybe help me with the following. This year July I
am coming to Madeira with my parents in law. Is there a hotel in
Funchal, accesible for elderly people that can't walk very well and that has
a shower and not a bathtube? They are looking for a 3 or 2 star
accomodation."

many thanks, Der

  • Perhaps the best would be Porto Santa Maria in the old town (part of Porto Bay Group)
  • I agree with flowergirl up to a point. The Porto Santa Maria is certainly on the flat and we have stayed there before. Yes it is easy flat walking right up to the marina with seats all the way along. The hotel is very good...but although there are showers in the rooms, they are all (as far as I know) over the bath.

I am assuming that the persons involved have some diffuculty in getting into a standard bath. The rooms that I have stayed in had handgrips on the bath sides so I would suggest an enquiry to the (very helpful) staff to see if some provision could be made for a step into and out of the bath.
  • Choosing a hotel among all of the various facility providers is always a tough job you can find & compare best one from http://www.sletoh.com It’s really a very good online resource. It will help you to compare hotel prices and rates in an instant. You can find hotels according to your budget and requirements. Hope this will work out for you.
    Happy journey in advance!
