Is it necessary to book acoomodation in advance?

edited December 1969 in Holidays
Hi all,

Me and my girlfriend will visit Madeira end of August / early September.

For previous holidays in continental Portugal we never booked accomodation in advance, and never had a problem to find either a cheap pousada or some privately let room anywhere.

Would the same thing work in Madeira - even in the smaller villages? Would it be possible to find some cheap enough place for the night by asking around or would you recommend booking every stay in advance?

Thanks for your replies!

  • Hi Dave,

you can find a place in every village - but not always cheap ;)

  • I would definitely book in advance. Most holiday accommodations are on the internet these days, so taking some time to do some search, will show you what's available and will enable you to make a timely choice.
