Please note that the two hortensia apartments are not the exactly the same. One of them is a one bedroom apartment and the other a studio apartment. The picture above shows the exterior of the teahouse in front of the apartments.

The studio apartment is suitable for not more than two people. The one bedroom apartment has the sofabed where one adult or two small children can sleep.

Here are some of the amenities and facilities included in the apartments.

• Bathroom has a shower, toilet and "bidoux"

• Cable TV (30 television channels)
• Sofa bed (suitable for 2 children or 1 adult)
• 2 heaters (one in the living room and one in the bedroom - the apartments are very easy to warm up if you feel cold)
• Alarm is also installed
• Cleaning service once a week
• Laundry can be arranged if necessary for longer term stays.
• Breakfast at an extra fee can be served at the Teahouse.
• 6000m² of gardens
• Bus service outside of premises close by
• Parking area available
• Good levada walks nearby with two of them entering and exiting the Hortensia premises.

The nearest supermarkets are in the city centre, or if you bring a car along, at the Modelo Hypermarket Complex in Caniço.

The apartments do perch atop over Funchal. The area is close by to the horse riding centre (Centro de Hipismo) and is very quiet at night. It is not close to the centre of Funchal, but at the same it is not outside of the Funchal metropolitan area either.

There is a lot of plant life cultivated through years of attention in the gardens. The area is very suitable for flora and other outside activity pursuits enthusiasts. It is very easy to sleep at night as a faint murmur of a stream from the levadas some 30 metres is the only thing that can just be heard.
