After a lenghthy chat with the wife of the Mayor of one of the most important coastal cities in Southern Africa (the couple both ex-madeirans) we were propelled with vision to create the expatriate index, or an expatriate site for Madeira.

Consider it, 1 000 000 madeirans living out there possibly wanting to look up something about their long lost land and friends.

It is incumbent on us to assume some sort responsibility in catering for the information needs of this international community. Moreover, we have been toying with the idea of having a Video Cam (24 hour) live video of a scene overlooking the bay of funchal. ( the internet bandwidth users are going to hate us )
“Whats the point,” you might ask.
Well what if they just wanted to see how things were doing in real time... What if we install one of these in the centre of Funchal where friends can pop in and smile at the camera, and hopefully have somebody look at them while they do funny gestures.
Its the human contact thing. And knowing how sentimental a Madeiran can be and become of “back home” on the island: it  might prove a useful thing to do.
“Oh, but why let somebody steal this idea,” you might ask.
My dear, its not the instrument or the intention, its the human contact we all need, if somebody else can do it, I’ll even support them. Or else I’ll have to find somebody else to help us fund this project. Roughly 100 000$00 per month. (Any takers ? Anybody ?) ;)
