Are there any Maderian 'business' forums online?

I would like to get in touch with people who have recently moved to Madeira who are not from Portuguese origin. I would like to know what your thoughts and experiences in regards to living on the island and what you feel is lacking.

so much.
Only downside of our visit was the dismal condition of the Jewish Cemetery. The
condition of this Cemetery is a disgrace to Madeira and, should not be allowed
to remain in this state of decay. If nothing is done to the stop the erosion that's
taking place, very soon the whole area will be lost to the sea. This would be so sad.
Surely something can be done to restore this place to a condition befitting its role
as the resting place of Jewish Madeirans.
Many of the Madeiran diaspora have a strong link to this place, whether admitted
or not and would be happy to see it restored and maintained.
We can only hope that the next time we return to our beloved ancestral home

Anyways, people often advice to "live your life" after these things happen... Well I was living my life and now I'm @#$%& depressed... I need a girl, someone to love, someone to love me.

Before getting this apartment (nothing included in the rent) I asked here and at work if I would get away with 100 euros/month for gas, electricity and water. People told me I wouldn't be paying more than 60 even if I used alot.

So... the month before this (and the rest) have been around that sum. Think we've been paying 100 euros for all of the above + internet.

Now here me this month, and according to the bills it's all just for one month.

Water: 110 euros!!!

Electricity: 87 euros!!!

Gas: 71 euros!!!!

So last bills were water 15, electricty 9 and gas 40. It's not like I've changed my lifestyle directly...... My routines are pretty strict. Maybe we took a couple of baths more or so nothing more nothing less... Electricity should actually be less since we got a LED tv and are using that alot more than our LCD. This is @#$%& sick.

Naveira Armas it's another story - how they can close the line without any notice ? I do understand that, they didn't resolve money problem with local government, that's fine , but they should give some information's in advance. That's wasn't very nice.....

Now the funny thing (which atleast I think is weird) is that I pay taxes on both my salary and my accommodation allowance. They're even put together on the salary report we receive at the end of each month as if it was one big salary. People who live in the company's apartments do not get any accommodation allowance.

So, we live in Portugal, we all get payed 14 salaries a year - twelve regular ones and two extras; one in summer and one by christmas.

Here's the thing; I was told today that on the extra salaries we receive twice a year accommodation allowance is not included and this sounds very, very strange to me. They said they don't pay it because it's an allowance. The most logical to me would be if I pay taxes on my allowance I should indeed receive it on the extra salaries too. If I don't then I shouldn't pay taxes for it... But then, I don't know what the law says etc, that's why I'm asking you for help. would love any info on the golf in Madeira. We are planning to move to Madeira in 2/3 years and both of us play golf. Are there any golf societies on Madeira? Would love to know if you can get subsidised golf etc. Also what are the membership costs?

Both courses look lovely, researching on the web, but first hand experience is invaluable.

Also has anybody experience of living in Santa Cruz, it looks lovely and we thought his would be a good location for us.

I have an issue where some land has been inherited by 3 siblings. The eldest and youngest descendants want to sell, however the middle child / descendant does not wish to do so and has been told that because he is the middle child he has no say / rights. If the land is now in the name of all 3 can the middle child / descendant be cut out of all decision making regarding this land? The will left by the parents states that all assets are to be left to the 3 children / descendants and distributed equally.
