It is a sad reflection on the Forums contributors that there are only three postings regarding the Floods, two of those have come from a) myself - a frequent visitor to Madeira, b) A madeiran resident in the UK and c) One very concerned Madeiran relating the sad story of an Orphaned boy.
Am I to take it that Funchal and its environs is totally restored to its former Glory? Or is the Economy booming and you have no concerns for the future of tourism?
The daily update of photographs dried up on Madeira-Island.com only one week after the disaster.If the Island is to attract old and new visitors then the tourist board need to do something spectacular to restore tourism confidence.
The flood news was overkill! Come and see for yourself what the environs are like. Much less than 1% of the surface of the island was affected. The very unfortunate deaths was more disastrous than anything material. A plane just crashed in India. Some 158 people died. Do you want to still have photos of that incident a month from now?
