Exchanging Money (Part 2)
Most financial services are multi-lingual. English
being the preferred mode of international communication.
You will be able to transact other methods of exchange
with your Eurocard, and your American Express Travellers
Cheques. Keep an eye out for the etiquettes/stickers
displayed visibly on the doors to banks and other
financial services. They may show acceptance of many
other types of currency for exchange: Thomas Cook
Travellers cheques, Eurocheques, and even personal
cheques from other European Banks - that is if they
have a reciprocal relationaship with your financial
institution back home. An example would be the special
service that exists for customers of the Royal
Bank of Scotland in the United Kingdom:
the BCI (Banco Comércio
& Industria) at the Marina Shopping
Centre in the Avenida Arriaga can accept financial
transactions between your account at home and at the
counter here of the Portuguese Bank.
